HI, I'M RACHEL!

I feel called to bring a little lightness to this heavy time, ya feel me? I know you do! Today I’m *super* excited bring the lightness in the form of some Washington D.C. cherry blossoms bridal inspiration! If this doesn’t give you all the warm and fuzzy spring feels, I don’t know what will!
Carla of Carla Pressley Hair & Makeup reached out in early March with the idea to do a cherry blossoms bridal inspiration styled shoot. If you’ve been with me for any amount of time, you know I love (ok… maybe it’s more of an obsession…) cherry blossoms. Needless to say, I was totally down for photographing Carla’s inspired work at the tidal basin.
Carla borrowed two gorgeous, very different bridal gowns from Rosalin’s Bridal Boutique in Falls Church, the first of which I’m sharing today (the second look I’ll share next week!). Our beautiful ‘bride’ model, Kristen, got up at 3AM so Carla could get started on her hair and makeup bright and early for our sunrise session. Such dedication!
I love sharing the behind the scenes, non-glamorous details of photo shoots – haha! For our cherry blossoms bridal inspiration styled shoot, Kristen had to change into the gowns in the back of Carla’s car. It was really cold and windy, and while I was bundled in multiple layers, Kristen toughed it out in the sleeveless dresses – for hours! She was seriously the best model!
Carla, the professional that she is, wore a mask over her nose and mouth the entire time! I let Carla make any hair or outfit adjustments I needed so that I could stay as far away from both Kristen and Carla as I could. We were pretty far off the beaten path, so luckily we kept a good distance away from other people. But we were still constantly dodging cars, pedestrians, and bikers in the background of our shots. The number of times I said, “hang on – waiting for a car to pass” was probably in the hundreds!
Despite the cold, background distractions, wind, and COVID-19 restrictions – we managed to walk away from this cherry blossoms bridal inspiration shoot with hundreds of beautiful images! I hope you enjoy this first post with ‘look 1’. Check back in next week to see ‘look 2’!
